Okland enabled the owner of the Grand America Hotel to personally know and approve of the quality and function for materials and systems incorporated in his outstanding facility.
To assist in the selection of the hundreds of facets of the project, Okland provided multiple mock-ups and lead many fact-finding excursions to several critical product manufacturers around the world.
The Grand America Hotel design contained prolific quantities of high-quality architectural woodwork and stone applied to the drywall partitions and the finished drywall surfaces. Woodwork cornices, bases and trims required precise alignments of door heads and door plinths, as well as flawlessly plumbed and sized door openings. Repeat patterns in the carpeting demanded the drywall partitions and finished drywall surfaces be constructed accurately. These conditions necessitated the finishing of the drywall surfaces to within one-eight inch in ten feet in the horizontal and vertical.
To achieve the quality expected by the owner, and to allow the utilization of partially pre-fabricated architectural woodwork elements to achieve a lower overall cost, Okland's superintendents developed and effectively implemented a room-by-room, door-by-door, quality control program that included the following processes:
-
Layout Verification
