Built by Arviso/Okland Construction Joint Venture. The new 11,486 s.f. center houses the child care functions for hospital staff. The structure is a one-story, stone and stucco-clad building that resembles Southwest Pueblo architecture with natural wood accents. The facility has new administrative offices and fully updated classrooms and activity areas, a nursery area and a kitchen/small cafeteria. The use of natural lighting throughout the center, particularly in the common areas, creates a homelike atmosphere for the children. Neutral tones with accent colors allow emphasis on the children's art work and curriculum. Sun shade louvers on the classroom windows bring the daylight in while deflecting much of the heat. Playground area contains materials that create play spaces for days that are too nice to be inside, but too warm in direct sun.
