Through the years, CSMH has established itself as a stable community hospital with an excellent reputation for quality care. Okland Construction worked to raise the level of healthcare in central Colorado by building a seven-story, 150,000 square foot new patient tower that would house 315 beds. This allowed the hospital to expand its Level II Trauma Center, Maternal Fetal Medicine Center, Birth Center, Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit by allowing the older space to expand the hospital's new technologies and providing primary and specialty care offices on its campus. The tower meticulously blended into the red masonry cladding of the original structure, with Okland carefully matching the original color from a brick that was no longer available. Included in the design was a special window system to maximize daylighting and energy conservation. The project included building a modern, separate structure for the public entrance/lobby that tied into the natural lighting design features.
